Actress Isha Koppikar has reflected on her long journey in the film industry, discussing the importance of adapting to changing times. From her early work in Telugu and Tamil cinema to prominent Bollywood films like Company and Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi, she emphasized that staying active and flexible is crucial for a lasting career. Amidst these reflections, the actress candidly shared that she regrets rejecting a major opportunity in the iconic film Dil Chahta Hai.
Embracing Change Over Time
Discussing why actors must evolve as they age, Isha recalled her career trajectory and shared her perspective on maintaining longevity. She noted that actors often feel their age never advances, but embracing change and taking on diverse roles is vital to break the monotony that bores audiences. While she admitted she was initially hesitant because of her early wholesome girl-next-door roles, her directors ensured they brought out her fiercer side on screen.
Balancing Art and Financial Dependence
Rather than jumping blindly from one project to another, Isha exercised caution in choosing her films. Explaining her mindset, she stated that actors who depend financially on their acting careers are often forced to compromise on a creative level. Believing that a true passion for acting requires creative integrity, she recalled starting out at the tender age of 16 without any industry background or guidance.
Why Dil Chahta Hai Was Turned Down
Isha also addressed the roles she had to decline due to prior scheduling commitments. She revealed that the role eventually played by Sonali Kulkarni opposite Saif Ali Khan in Dil Chahta Hai was originally offered to her, but she had to turn it down because she was committed elsewhere. She openly admitted that she regrets making that decision.
Working With Sonu Sood and Rajshri Productions
Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi remains one of Isha's most memorable films. Speaking about her character Chandni, she shared a deep connection with the role's simplicity, mirroring her own real-life personality. She described working with Rajshri Productions and Sooraj Barjatya as a wonderful experience and heaped praise on her co-star Sonu Sood. Calling him a wonderful human being, she recalled spending about a month in Bhopal shooting for the project, noting how the positive experience touched her heart.
The Beginning of Her Career
