While the Indian national cricket team is currently busy with their tour of England, participating in a T20 series, news has emerged regarding another upcoming assignment. The Indian men's 'A' cricket team is set to tour Nepal towards the end of this year, in December 2026. The Cricket Association of Nepal officially confirmed this development on July 10. Both cricket boards have reached an agreement to host a three-match T20 series. This decision follows discussions between representatives from the BCCI and the Cricket Association of Nepal held during the ICC annual conference in Edinburgh.
Complete Series Schedule
According to the finalized itinerary, the T20 series will commence with the first match on December 9. The subsequent games are scheduled for December 11 and December 13, respectively. All three matches of the series are set to be hosted at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground located in Kirtipur. It is anticipated that the India 'A' squad will feature players who have delivered strong performances in the IPL or those who are on the cusp of breaking into the main Indian T20 side. This tour provides Nepal with a valuable opportunity to compete against a high-caliber side, facilitating learning and growth for their players. Moreover, the series underscores the strengthening professional relationship and cooperation between the BCCI and the cricket board of Nepal.
Nepal's Previous Training Experience in India
This is not the first instance of the Nepal cricket team utilizing facilities in India for their preparations. In the lead-up to the 2024 Men's T20 World Cup, the Nepali side participated in a tri-series alongside domestic teams from Gujarat and Baroda. Furthermore, the squad spent significant time training at the Center of Excellence in Bengaluru. Before traveling to the West Indies and the United States for the major tournament, they also engaged in several practice matches at the facility. Subsequently, the team returned to the same training center to prepare for the Cricket World Cup League 2.
Nepal's Evolution on the World Stage
Nepal has showcased its competitive spirit by qualifying for both of the last two T20 World Cups. Although they did not secure a victory during the 2024 edition, the team demonstrated marked improvement in the 2026 tournament. During this event, Nepal achieved a significant milestone by defeating Scotland. In the same competition, the side almost caused a major upset against a formidable England team, ultimately falling short by only 4 runs in a closely contested match.
