Tempers Boil Over in T20 Mumbai League Final as Tushar Deshpande and Gaurav Jathar Clash; Video Goes Viral

A heated exchange between Maratha Royals pacer Tushar Deshpande and ARCS Andheri batter Gaurav Jathar in the T20 Mumbai League final spilled across the field, dragging in players and support staff of both sides. Maratha Royals lifted the trophy, but the on-field flare-up is now dominating social media.

Drama is part and parcel of cricket, but the T20 Mumbai League final served up a scene that put the spirit of the game under the scanner. In the dying stages of the title clash, the contest stopped being just about bat and ball — it teetered on the edge of a full-blown scuffle. A bitter face-off between Maratha Royals fast bowler Tushar Deshpande and ARCS Andheri batter Gaurav Jathar sent the temperature inside the stadium soaring, and footage of the whole episode is now spreading rapidly across social media.

How the Final Played Out

The summit clash was played on 13 June, with ARCS Andheri winning the toss and opting to bowl first. Batting first, MSC Maratha Royals rode a superb half-century from Chinmay Rajesh Sutar to post 154 for 5 in their allotted overs. In reply, Andheri fought right down to the wire but could only manage 146 for 8 in their 20 overs. That narrow margin handed Maratha Royals a nail-biting win and the championship trophy.

The 19th Over That Changed Everything

The most decisive — and most controversial — turn came in the 19th over, with Andheri pushing hard to close in on the target. Gaurav Jathar was in full flow at that point and launched spinner Irfan Umair for a towering six, throwing the match wide open. The pressure was visibly mounting on Maratha Royals. But off the very next ball, Irfan Umair turned the tables, trapping Jathar LBW and sending him back to the pavilion. Jathar had made 23 runs off 17 balls.

The moment the wicket fell, the Maratha Royals players broke into an aggressive celebration — something Gaurav Jathar clearly did not appreciate. That was the spark. A sharp argument erupted between Jathar and Tushar Deshpande right there on the field, and it escalated to the point where the umpires and other players had to rush in to separate them. The situation was eventually calmed, but the bad blood between the players lingered.

Flare-Up Reignites Near the Dugout

It did not stay quiet for long. Moments later, a Maratha Royals player walked right up to the ARCS Andheri dugout, where captain Shivam Dube and the rest of the side were seated. Once again Gaurav Jathar and an opposition player found themselves nose to nose, and the argument flared up afresh. Seeing things slipping out of hand, the support staff and players of both teams quickly stepped in, defused the confrontation and pulled the two apart.

What Happens Next

A blow-up on a stage as big as a final has raised plenty of questions about on-field discipline. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) could now come down hard on the players over their aggressive conduct. It is understood that, based on the match referee's report, the players involved could face fines or other disciplinary action. Maratha Royals may have walked away with the trophy, but for now it is this final-day flashpoint that is generating the loudest buzz on social media.
