In a major development following high political drama in the national capital, Cockroach Janata Party leaders Abhijit Dipke, Sourav Das, and Ashutosh Ranka have been released from police custody. The Delhi Police produced all three figures before a Special Executive Magistrate at the Delhi Cantt police station, where the magistrate ordered their formal discharge.
Preventive Detention at the Airport
The three prominent leaders had flown from Mumbai to Delhi Airport on Saturday to participate in a demonstration organised by the Cockroach Janata Party at Jantar Mantar. However, police personnel intercepted the trio as soon as they landed and placed them under preventive detention to forestall the planned gathering. They were subsequently held until their production before the Special Executive Magistrate court, which cleared their release.
Tight Security Cordon Around Jantar Mantar
Strict security arrangements had been deployed across the Jantar Mantar vicinity on Saturday, creating an extensive perimeter that prevented demonstrators from reaching the protest venue. Police detained anyone attempting to enter the restricted zone during the agitation. The detentions had sparked political friction, with the CJP writing to the Delhi Police Commissioner demanding answers and Arvind Kejriwal questioning authorities about the whereabouts of Dipke, Ranka, and Das prior to their court appearance.
