Things turned a touch wild on this week's Pilot TV Podcast, with one of cinema's most memorable menacing performers, Javier Bardem, stepping into the studio. Known to audiences from No Country For Old Men and Skyfall, the actor dropped by to talk about reviving an infamous character on screen.
Bardem And The Return Of Max Cady
The conversation centred on the latest adaptation of Cape Fear, now streaming on Apple TV, in which Bardem brings the notorious Max Cady back into our lives. Along the way, the chat made room for The Simpsons and its classic 'Cape Feare' episode. There was also a moment of playful confusion involving the two Bobs, of the Sideshow and De Niro variety, which is well worth listening out for.
Inside The Booth This Week
Back in the pod booth, James Dyer, Boyd Hilton and Steph Seelan gathered for another lively episode. Thanks to the World Cup and a handful of embargoes, only two shows were on the table this time. That turned out to be perfectly fine, because both were worth the spotlight.
House Of The Dragon's Triumphant Comeback
The first is House Of The Dragon, the Game Of Thrones prequel and spin-off, whose return the team greeted as a genuine triumph.
A Standout Welsh Drama
The second is the Welsh drama The Light In The Hall: Still Waters, which the team rated as very good indeed, or 'da iawn'. The series also carries a Welsh title, Y Golau: Dŵr, which James gamely tried to pronounce, albeit with a little help.
The Big Doctor Who News
And, as you might have guessed, the team also tucked into the bombshell Doctor Who news that broke this week. Vworp! Vworp!
