Ranchi-based beauty expert Kavita claims that one tiny morning habit can keep fine lines and wrinkles at bay for a long time — and it costs nothing. According to her, simply dipping your face into icy cold water two to three times the moment you wake up starts to tighten the skin's pores and brings a remarkable freshness to your face.

Why Cold Water Actually Works

The logic behind the trick is refreshingly simple. When very cold water suddenly meets the skin, the pores contract and tighten almost instantly. That contraction firms up the skin, reduces facial puffiness, and — done consistently — gradually erases fine lines. Kavita says the effect is something you can feel from the very first try.

The Full Treatment in Two Easy Steps

Kavita says the entire routine can be done at home in just two steps, and it barely needs any preparation.

Step 1 — Prepare the Icy Cold Water

As soon as you wake up, take a large bowl big enough for your face to fit into comfortably. Fill it with ordinary water, place it in the freezer, and let it sit until it turns truly cold. The water should be cold enough that your finger begins to go numb the moment you dip it in.

If you don't have time in the morning to wait for the water to chill, there is a quick alternative. Take ice cubes out of the freezer, drop them into a large bowl, and pour a little plain water over them. In just 1 minute, your icy cold water is ready.

Step 2 — The Right Way to Dunk Your Face

Once the water is ready, submerge your face in it for a few seconds and then lift it out. Repeat this action at least 15 to 20 times in the morning. This repeated dunking is what tightens the skin and leaves the face looking fresh.

Kavita explains that the treatment is most beneficial for women above 25 years of age, since fine lines and signs of ageing typically begin to appear on the face after this stage. Young children, on the other hand, should not try this routine at all.
