The ruling BJP used its official social media handle on X to promote the Ayushman card, framing the scheme as a sturdy health shield for ordinary families. The party described it as a "small card" that delivers a "big protective cover."
What the card offers
According to the post, the card entitles every eligible family to free and cashless treatment worth up to ₹5 lakh a year — meaning that when a member is hospitalised, the family does not have to pay out of pocket. The aim is to shield households from crushing medical bills during illness.
Focus on the elderly and digital records
The party highlighted three key benefits. First, citizens aged 70 and above are also being brought under the health cover. Second, an ABHA ID creates a digital health record for each beneficiary, keeping treatment details secure in one place. Third, the party claimed the scheme has already saved families more than ₹1.73 lakh crore.
An appeal to the eligible
The post closed with an appeal urging eligible people to get their Ayushman card made so that the benefit is available to them when they need it most.
Public reaction
The post drew a mixed response. Some users questioned the eligibility conditions and limits tied to the number of family members, while several complained that certain hospitals are reluctant to treat patients on the card or run up inflated bills. Others called the scheme useful but pressed for more transparency in how it is implemented.
