The ruling BJP has used a post on the social media platform X to underline what it describes as a transformation in the country's health services. The party argues that successive government initiatives have eased the burden of steep hospital costs for ordinary people and made treatment far more accessible.
What the Post Said
Drawing a contrast between the past and the present, BJP wrote that there was a time when merely hearing the name of a hospital filled people with dread. According to the party, that picture from 12 years ago has now changed, and the Modi government has — in its own words — taken the country's healthcare to the "Next Level." The tone of the post centred on the idea that treatment is now possible with dignity and without the weight of financial worry.
The Ayushman Bharat Figures
To back its claim, the party shared several numbers tied to the Ayushman Bharat scheme. By its account, more than 44 crore cards have been issued so far, and over 12 crore people have received free treatment under the programme.
The post also noted that the scheme's reach has now been widened to include citizens above the age of 70. In doing so, the party presented the extension of health cover to the elderly population as a major achievement.
Public Reaction
The post drew a mix of responses. Some users questioned whether the real benefits of such schemes could reach the common person without first improving basic infrastructure and the condition of hospitals from the primary level up to the district and state level, while others expressed doubts about how the scheme works on the ground and about the claims themselves.
