Looking to turn the simmering frustration of millions of competitive exam aspirants into a political rallying point, the Congress is preparing to hit the streets. On Monday, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi appealed to students and young people preparing for examinations to throw their weight behind the party's national movement called 'Chhatron Ki Goonj'. The campaign will gather momentum on 17 June from Kota in Rajasthan.
Rahul's Direct Message to the Youth
Writing on the social media platform 'X', Rahul Gandhi said that repeated paper leaks, cancelled examinations and constant delays in recruitment processes have worn young people down, and that their voice now needs to be louder than ever before. He said he knows that students are exhausted and angry, but when a government stops listening, one has to raise one's voice even higher.
Calling on the youth to come together, he wrote in his post, "Let us all become one voice that cannot be ignored. It will begin from Kota and then reach every corner of the country. This is the fight for your future, and I am with you."
What the Campaign Is About
The proposed nationwide movement focuses squarely on issues affecting the young, including paper leaks, irregularities in examinations, unemployment and delays in recruitment. Its formal launch will take place in Kota on 17 June, where Rahul Gandhi will interact face to face with students and aspirants preparing for competitive examinations.
The party alleges that recurring paper leaks, irregularities in recruitment tests and rising unemployment have put the future of millions of young people at stake. To push the issue onto the national stage, the Congress is trying to bring students, job seekers, teachers and youth organisations together under one banner. Its leaders say the campaign will press for transparency in the examination system, an end to paper leaks, a fix for recruitment irregularities and answers to problems linked to education and employment.
Rahul to Travel City to City
Congress General Secretary (Organisation) K.C. Venugopal said Rahul Gandhi will address student conventions in different cities across the country. As part of this, events have been scheduled for 10 July in Prayagraj, 11 July in Patna and 14 July in Delhi.
Sharing Venugopal's statement from its official 'X' account, the party said the entire campaign is being run under the leadership of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi.
Why Kota Was Chosen as the Starting Point
According to Kota district Congress president Rakhi Gautam and Kota rural Congress president Bhanu Pratap Singh, the country's largest coaching hub, Kota, was deliberately picked to launch the movement, since aspirants from across India are concentrated there. Rahul Gandhi had recently been invited to visit Kota at a convention held in Pushkar.
