After Two and a Half Years of Construction, Nagaur Station Reopens Transformed: 96% of Amrit Bharat Revamp Complete, Rajasthani Carvings Take Centre Stage

Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, roughly 96 percent of the redevelopment of Nagaur railway station is now complete. A wide new entrance is already open, and travellers will soon get a new FOB, lifts, escalators and a host of modern facilities.

For nearly two and a half years, passengers at Rajasthan's Nagaur railway station have put up with dust, dug-up paths and cramped detours. That phase is now drawing to a close. Under the central government's ‘Amrit Bharat Station Scheme’, about 96 percent of the station's makeover is complete, and the building is emerging in a strikingly new, grand avatar in place of its old, worn-out form. For the thousands of daily travellers who endured the disruption, this comes as a major relief.

New Main Gate Opens, Narrow Detours Gone

The clearest sign of change is at the entrance. The gleaming new main gate has been thrown fully open to ordinary passengers. Until now, people had to squeeze through tight lanes and the construction zone to reach the platforms; with this wider route in use, that ordeal is over for good. Reaching the station is now far easier, safer and more convenient than before — a direct benefit for the thousands who travel through here every day.

Nagaur's Heritage Carved into Stone

The standout feature of the new building is its design, which puts Rajasthan's cultural identity and proud history front and centre. Intricate Rajasthani carvings have been etched onto the large concrete pillars, bringing the region's traditional artistry to life. Beyond that, artistic elements reflecting Nagaur's historical, cultural and social character are being added to the station's walls and various sections. The idea is that visitors from across the country and abroad carry away a glimpse of Nagaur's unique heritage along with their train tickets.

From Ticketing to Lighting, All Under One Roof

Buying a ticket is being made simpler too. All ticket counters are being brought together into a single large main hall, so that queuing and purchasing happen in a clean, orderly way. The superb lighting arrangement inside this spacious hall, combined with the modern amenities all around, is designed to make the travel experience pleasant and world-class.

FOB, Lifts and Escalators for Every Traveller

As part of the hi-tech upgrade, a new and wider foot over bridge (FOB) is being built. Keeping in mind the needs of the elderly, persons with disabilities and patients, work on installing modern lifts is in its final stages. To spare passengers the hassle of climbing stairs, escalators are also being provided, making it far easier to move from one platform to another.

Separate Entry-Exit and Bigger Parking

To smooth the movement of vehicles and passengers inside the complex, the traffic plan has been redrawn. Separate routes are being created for entry and exit so that needless crowding at the main gates is avoided. There will also be ample space for safe vehicle parking, a modern drop-off porch for dropping passengers, and a new circulating area that is set to become the station's main attraction in the days ahead.

Furniture, Signage and Spotless Toilets

To raise passenger comfort further, the station is getting modern furniture, easily visible new signboards, large shelters, water booths for clean drinking water and sparkling toilets. With safety and privacy in mind, separate toilet blocks have been built for women and men, while a ‘pay and use’ toilet for the general public will be available in the station's outer area. With all these changes, Nagaur railway station will no longer be just a place to catch a train — it is set to become a symbol of the city's progress and its new, modern identity.
