Panic swept across Rajasthan's Dausa district on Saturday after a speeding passenger bus crashed into a truck parked along National Highway 21 (NH 21). The violent collision between the Uttar Pradesh Roadways bus and the truck was so severe that the front of the bus was completely smashed, and around 20 passengers travelling in it were seriously injured. The crash left a scene of chaos and screams at the spot.
Where and How the Crash Happened
The accident took place at Tiwari Cut, near the Dausa Collectorate. According to the information available, the truck was standing on the side of the highway in a broken-down or uncontrolled condition. The UP Roadways bus, coming from behind at high speed, ploughed straight into it. The impact was so powerful that the bus was torn apart and the passengers inside had no chance to brace themselves. Other drivers passing along the highway were shaken by the sudden crash and immediately alerted the police.
Police Lead the Rescue Effort
As soon as word of the accident spread, the local Kotwali police station team and administrative staff rushed to the site without delay. With the help of bystanders, the police launched a rescue operation and pulled out all 20 injured passengers trapped inside the bus one by one. Several ambulances were summoned, and every injured passenger was rushed to Dausa District Hospital, where a team of doctors began treatment. The condition of some of the passengers is said to be extremely critical.
Traffic Restored After a Long Jam
The crash triggered a lengthy traffic jam on National Highway 21, with vehicles backing up in long queues in both directions. Using a crane, the police cleared both damaged vehicles — the UP Roadways bus and the truck — from the middle of the road to the side. After a strenuous effort, the jam was cleared and traffic was restored to normal. The police are now investigating whether the accident was caused by driver negligence or a technical fault.
