She Cracked the Army, Navy and Air Force All at Once — Then Nidhi Agarwal Picked the Sky

At Hyderabad's Combined Graduation Parade, Nidhi Agarwal earned All India Rank 28 in the Army, AIR 9 in the Navy and AIR 6 in the Air Force, yet chose the Indian Air Force; fellow flight cadet Harshita also completed her training and won her wings.

Clearing the toughest selection exams of all three armed services at the same time — and then getting to choose between them — is rare enough to make headlines. That is exactly what Nidhi Agarwal from Hyderabad pulled off. During the Combined Graduation Parade at the Air Force Academy, held to mark the end of pre-commissioning training for flight cadets, her father Sudheer Kumar Agarwal watched with tears of pride as his daughter stood ready to serve the nation in uniform.

Selected by the Army, Navy and Air Force together

What makes Nidhi's achievement extraordinary is that she made it onto the selection lists of the Indian Army, the Navy and the Air Force all at once. The numbers tell the story of her talent:

  • All India Rank 28 in the Army
  • All India Rank 9 in the Navy
  • All India Rank 6 in the Air Force

With three doors open to her, she chose the sky and joined the Indian Air Force. That single decision is what sets her journey apart.

A father's dream, two daughters' flight

This success belongs to a whole family's mindset, not just to Nidhi. Sudheer Kumar Agarwal says his family always stood firmly behind both of his daughters. Nidhi's elder sister, Komal Agarwal, had earlier joined the NCC and risen to its top level, bringing honour to her family and her country. The path the elder sister opened up, the younger one took to even greater heights.

Harshita earns her wings too

The same parade marked another young woman's milestone. According to her mother, Aruna, her daughter Harshita has now received her 'wings'. Harshita successfully completed Phase 1 and Phase 2 of her demanding training and has begun her own flight in the Air Force. Aruna praised the training at the Air Force Academy and expressed her gratitude for the government's policies on women's empowerment.

A changing mindset, a changing India

This Combined Graduation Parade was far more than the close of a training programme. It is proof of the rising participation and leadership of women in the Indian Armed Forces. Nidhi securing top ranks in all three services' exams at once (AIR 28, 9 and 6) shows just how strong today's daughters are, both physically and mentally.

The other significant side of this story is the shift in how families think. Parents like Sudheer Kumar Agarwal and Aruna choosing to send their daughters to the frontline, and supporting them without any discrimination, sets a new example for society. When Aruna applauds the government's efforts and the academy's training, it becomes clear that the country's daughters are no longer merely entering the defence sector — they are clearing its hardest stages and proving themselves. This is the picture of a changing India, where daughters are no longer confined to the doorstep of the home but are shouldering the responsibility of the nation's sovereignty and the safety of its skies.
