A grim chain-reaction crash on the Ganga Expressway in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, has left families in shock. What began with a single overturned Magic vehicle quickly spiralled into a pile-up of several vehicles, killing two people on the spot and leaving more than a dozen others seriously injured.
How the crash began
According to the information available, the people travelling in the Magic were returning from Manona Dham after getting a sister treated. On the way, a dog suddenly darted in front of the vehicle. In trying to avoid it, the driver lost control and the Magic overturned on the expressway. That single moment set off the entire tragedy.
Rescuers became the victims
Several people rushed to pull the injured out of the overturned Magic. But as they stood on the expressway carrying out the rescue, a speeding car coming from behind crushed them. Moments later, one vehicle after another rammed into each other from the rear.
Around the same time, a fast-moving Tempo Traveller smashed into the people standing on the edge of the expressway from behind. In this string of collisions, more than a dozen people were seriously hurt and 2 people died on the spot.
Police response
As soon as they were alerted, police reached the site and admitted the injured to a hospital for treatment. The bodies of the deceased were taken into custody and sent for post-mortem. The people in the Magic were reportedly heading back to their home in Chandigarh from Manona Dham. The entire incident falls under the Hasanpur police station area on the Ganga Expressway in Amroha.
