A controversy over the donation boxes kept at Ayodhya's Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple complex has now moved into the realm of an official inquiry. Responding to a request from the temple trust, the Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) that will dig into the allegations, examine them thoroughly and place its findings before the administration.
The Three Officers Handed the Probe
The government has assembled a three-member team to look into the sensitive matter. It comprises Lucknow Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant, IG Range Kiran S. and Special Secretary (Finance) Neel Ratan Kumar. The line-up deliberately brings together administration, police and finance, so that every angle of the case can be scrutinised and brought to light.
Why the Inquiry Was Sought
In recent days, a flurry of claims about the donation boxes at the temple complex had been circulating rapidly on social media. Taking these rumours seriously, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust approached Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, urging an impartial investigation into the whole episode. The trust argues that a deep probe is essential both to put a stop to the misleading chatter and to bring the truth into the open.
The trust has described the campaign not as idle gossip but as a calculated conspiracy. In its view, this is a deliberate attempt to damage the reputation of the holy site and to wound the faith of crores of devotees, and it insists the plot must be exposed.
Government Acts Without Delay
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took up the trust's request immediately and, with effect at once, ordered this SIT of three senior officers. The team will now comb through the entire matter, prepare a detailed report and hand it to the administration, on the basis of which further action will be decided.
