Filmmaker Aanand L Rai has formally put an end to ongoing speculation surrounding the next installment of his celebrated romantic-comedy franchise, Tanu Weds Manu. Addressing concerns about potential cast overhauls, he stated unequivocally that whenever the third chapter enters production, fresh faces will not replace the original leads. According to him, the essence of the story remains incomplete without Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan, eliminating any possibility of moving forward under a different creative blueprint.
Setting the Record Straight on Recasting Speculations
Earlier this year, various discussions indicated that the project might feature a fresh plot coupled with an entirely different ensemble. Aanand L Rai firmly countered these narratives, reiterating that the franchise draws its life directly from its defining lead duo. Altering the primary cast would compromise the core identity of the narrative, rendering the concept unviable without the specific dynamic that established the series in the first place.
Commitment to the Original Lead Pair
Speaking in Mumbai, the director outlined his vision for the narrative continuation. He clarified that progressing the franchise without R Madhavan is completely out of the question. Elaborating on this stance, he affirmed that whenever the subsequent chapter arrives, whether designated as part three, four, or five, Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan will remain at the helm as the central characters. This confirmation effectively dispels any prospect of alternative casting choices.
Current Production Slate and Upcoming Releases
Outside of this franchise, Aanand L Rai is currently focusing on his home production venture Nakhrewali. Helmed by director Rahul Shanklya, the project marks the silver screen debut of emerging talents Ansh Duggal and Pragati Srivastava. The film is slated to arrive in theaters on October 30, 2027. Prior to this, the filmmaker backed Tere Ishk Mein featuring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon, which registered a strong commercial performance at the box office.
