Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the crime drama Daayra centers on the friction between two high-ranking police officers revolving around a contentious police encounter. Kareena Kapoor portrays an upright police official dedicated to operating strictly within legal boundaries. In contrast, Prithviraj Sukumaran plays a fellow officer facing severe allegations of executing an unlawful encounter. Although the narrative weaves elements of suspense, procedural crime, and high-stakes moral dilemmas, the screenplay has failed to make an impact on mainstream audiences.
Daayra Secures Just 4.95 Crore Net in Four Days
Trade analyst Sacnilk reported that Daayra was allocated 1,562 shows across theaters in India. When the film faced its crucial fourth day test on Monday, box office receipts plummeted dramatically to a meager 0.45 crore rupees net. That took its domestic net total across the initial four-day run to just 4.95 crore rupees. Overseas performance mirrored this domestic indifference, as the film generated only 25 lakh rupees from international markets on Monday, settling its worldwide gross earnings at a modest 7.68 crore rupees.
Steep 70 Percent Monday Slump for Kunal Kemmu's Vibe
The situation fared little better for the comedy outing Vibe, written and directed by Kunal Kemmu. The film received lukewarm notices from film critics upon debut, and the lack of strong humorous payoff directly hampered its sustained theatrical appeal. Starring Preity Zinta alongside Kunal Kemmu in leading roles, the project endured a massive 70 percent decline in collections on its first Monday compared to its Sunday theatrical numbers.
Theatrical Earnings and Global Totals for Vibe
Backed by a broader domestic footprint of 2,609 shows, Vibe only managed to secure 0.90 crore rupees net on its fourth day in Indian theaters. This took its total four-day domestic net tally to 8.35 crore rupees, pushing its domestic gross collection to 10.00 crore rupees. Internationally, the comedic narrative failed to find traction as well, bringing in 25 lakh rupees on Monday to reach an overseas cumulative figure of 1.50 crore rupees and bringing its worldwide gross total to 11.50 crore rupees.
