State Bank of India has been honored with the World's Best Consumer Bank 2026 award by Global Finance magazine for the second consecutive year. The country's largest bank stated that this recognition highlights its ongoing success in setting global standards for customer-centric banking through digital innovation, superior service, and a strong commitment to inclusive growth.
The prestigious award was presented at a special event held on the sidelines of the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. Speaking on the occasion, SBI Chairman CS Shetty noted that the ongoing transformations within the bank, particularly in the digital domain, aim to provide reliable digital services to people on a massive scale. Enhancing digital capabilities has enabled the bank to reach a wider audience and deliver services with greater speed. Meanwhile, the bank employees ensure that banking services remain accessible, trustworthy, and tailored to individual requirements.
As part of its expansion and modernization efforts, the bank launched a new YONO platform, pushing the number of registered users on YONO past the 10-crore mark. In addition, the bank has introduced artificial intelligence-based customer services alongside personalized digital features. SBI has further widened its physical footprint by opening over 300 new branches across the country, while many essential services are also delivered directly through doorstep service so that account holders are spared the need to visit a bank branch.
