Investor enthusiasm surrounding the upcoming initial public offering (IPO) of Jio Platforms has reached extraordinary levels, with domestic and global institutional investors generating preliminary demand worth nearly ₹2.5 lakh crore. Scheduled to open for public subscription on October 21, the digital major's public offer has an overall issue size of ₹30,213 crore. This early institutional demand translates to more than eight times the total offer size, underlining immense institutional appetite for one of the most anticipated market debuts in recent financial history.
Global Funds and Domestic Institutional Demand
The massive ₹2.5 lakh crore preliminary interest encompasses commitments from top-tier sovereign wealth funds, global long-term institutional investors, prominent Indian mutual fund houses, and major insurance providers. Internationally, marquee sovereign wealth funds including Singapore's GIC, Norges Bank Investment Management, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, and Qatar Investment Authority have registered keen interest. Additionally, world-leading global asset management powerhouses such as BlackRock, Fidelity, and Capital Group have expressed intentions to secure sizeable allocations in the offering.
On the domestic front, India's largest institutional asset manager, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), alongside market-leading asset managers SBI Mutual Fund and HDFC Mutual Fund, have actively joined the bidding pool. Beyond traditional institutional investors, specialized global technology funds and prominent high-net-worth family investment offices have also indicated significant demand for equity allocation in the enterprise.
Price Band, Anchor Bidding, and Listing Schedule
Jio Platforms has fixed the price band for the public issue at ₹1065 to ₹1119 per equity share. Bidding for the public offering will officially open on October 21 and conclude on October 23. Before the issue opens for general investors, anchor investors will participate in a dedicated bidding session on October 19. The outcome of the anchor bidding will offer precise clarity on how the preliminary institutional demand translates into formal equity allocations and anchor subscription figures. Following the completion of allotment procedures, the company is slated to list its shares on the domestic stock exchanges on October 28.
Shareholding Structure and Major Investors
Jio Platforms operates as a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited, which holds the controlling 66.43% equity stake in the firm. Over the past few years, the digital giant has successfully inducted key strategic international investors into its capital structure. Meta Platforms, through one of its investment entities, owns a 9.98% stake in Jio Platforms, while Google International maintains a 7.73% holding. The strategic backing of these major global technology companies reinforces Jio Platforms' strong digital foundation and market presence ahead of its public debut.
