Before the days play could get underway, persistent rain forced a delay of roughly three and a half hours. English batsmen Emilio Gay and Harry Brook finally managed to take the field at 2:20 PM, but the Lords pitch immediately created severe troubles for the batsmen as play resumed. Around 5:00 PM, rain forced yet another halt to the proceedings. Authorities waited for conditions to improve, but bad light ultimately forced a premature end to the day's play at 6:32 PM. Consequently, only 24.5 overs of cricket were possible on Day 3. Nonetheless, England has set Pakistan a daunting target of 357 runs, which appears extremely difficult to chase down.

Pakistan had already been bundled out for a paltry 110 runs in their first innings of the Test match.
