Following a formal complaint by the aggrieved officer at Nampally Police Station, the authorities registered a criminal case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act, taking the suspect into custody on Tuesday. Helmet Violation Enforcement Triggers Public Altercation
The confrontation unfolded around 3:30 PM on September 7, 2026, near a busy intersection under the jurisdiction of the Abids Traffic Police Station. Traffic was temporarily halted at a red light while officers conducted routine vehicle checks and regulated movement. Home Guard K. Ravinder was deployed on traffic duty alongside Women Assistant Sub-Inspector (WASI) Vani Shree and Home Guard Vijay Kumar. During the inspection, K. Ravinder spotted a motorcyclist riding without a protective helmet. In accordance with standard enforcement protocols, K. Ravinder used his official departmental camera to photograph the two-wheeler rider and the vehicle registration to issue a traffic violation ticket.
Wrong-Way Return Led to Verbal Abuse and Assault
Noticing that his photograph had been taken, the motorcyclist became furious. The individual was subsequently identified as 28-year-old Mohd. Rizwan, a resident of Hyderabad who works in the signboard trade. Agitated by the police action, Rizwan executed an illegal U-turn and drove his vehicle from the wrong direction against oncoming traffic to confront the home guard. Upon reaching K. Ravinder, Rizwan initiated an aggressive argument, hurling verbal abuse at the officer. As the home guard attempted to manage the situation and explain the infraction, Rizwan escalated the altercation into physical violence by pushing, shoving, and assaulting the officer on duty.
Spouse Joined Dispute and Filmed Incident on Mobile
As the on-duty police team attempted to maintain order and conduct their official responsibilities, the situation degenerated further. According to police reports, Rizwan's wife, who was traveling with him on the two-wheeler, actively participated in the confrontation. She allegedly used abusive and derogatory language against the officers while filming the entire altercation on her mobile phone camera. Both individuals effectively disrupted public servants from executing their mandatory duties before speeding away from the intersection on the same motorcycle.

Following the escape of the suspect, Home Guard K. Ravinder approached the Nampally Police Station and filed an official written complaint detailing the assault and obstruction of duty.
