Security forces across Jammu and Kashmir have intensified vigilance against individuals transmitting sensitive local information across the border. Surveillance networks deployed in the region are focused on pinpointing active communication channels linked to hostile elements outside the country. As part of this sustained counter-intelligence effort, the Indian Army established targeted electronic surveillance across the Bhaderwah sector in Doda district. During monitoring, Army Intelligence tracked a suspect maintaining ongoing communications with individuals stationed in Pakistan. Once technical tracking pinpointed his exact movements, security personnel moved in and took him into custody.
Custody of Altaf in Bhaderwah and Mobile Seizures
The detained individual was identified by Army Intelligence as Altaf, a resident of the Bhaderwah area within Doda district. A physical search conducted at the time of apprehension led to the recovery of three mobile handsets from his possession. Among the seized devices was one smartphone, accompanied by two basic mobile phones. An initial examination of the handsets revealed multiple telephone numbers beginning with the Pakistani country calling code +92, confirming that Altaf had been utilizing these numbers to communicate with handlers or contacts across the border.
Handover to Jammu and Kashmir Police and Scope of Investigation
Following the preliminary interception, Army Intelligence handed Altaf over to the Jammu and Kashmir Police to pursue deeper interrogation and legal processing. Investigators are now focused on resolving critical questions surrounding the suspect's cross-border interactions.
- Identity of Foreign Contacts: Police officials are working to establish the specific identities and organizational affiliations behind the +92 contact numbers stored on the devices.
- Nature of Transmitted Information: Investigators are reviewing data traffic and call records to determine precisely what local details or intelligence had already been sent across the border.
- Domestic Facilitator Network: Inquiries are underway to uncover whether any local collaborators or facilitators within India assisted the accused in his operations.
- Potential Security Threats: Security agencies are examining whether these foreign contacts were part of broader planning to stage major disruptive activities within Jammu and Kashmir.
Search Operation for Three Suspected Terrorists in Rajouri
Simultaneously, a massive cordon and search operation remains underway in the Sunderbani belt of Rajouri district. A joint contingent comprising the Indian Army, CRPF, and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police is actively scouring the terrain to track down three suspected terrorists. These individuals had earlier abducted a local resident named Anil Kumar from Ladiya village, forcibly taking him toward the dense forests of Dua Khadd.
Around 3:15 AM at night, the suspected terrorists released the abducted civilian in the middle of the jungle before retreating deeper into the thick forest cover. Immediately after receiving information regarding the abduction and subsequent movements, a joint search operation spearheaded by the Indian Army was launched across the sector. Security teams continue to comb through the challenging jungle terrain to locate the three suspects.
