Fatal Overtake on Jabalpur-Mandla Road: Scorpio Bursts Into Flames After Hitting Haiwa, Two Burnt Alive

Two young men from Haryana were burnt to death late on Saturday evening when their speeding Scorpio collided head-on with a Haiwa during an overtaking attempt in Jabalpur's Barela police station area and instantly caught fire.

A horrifying scene unfolded late on Saturday evening on the Jabalpur-Mandla road in Madhya Pradesh, leaving onlookers shaken. A speeding Scorpio turned into a ball of fire within seconds, trapping and killing the two young men travelling in it. The accident took place within the limits of the Barela police station area.

A Head-On Crash During Overtaking

According to what has emerged so far, the chain of events began when the Scorpio's driver tried to overtake a Haiwa moving ahead of him. In the middle of that manoeuvre, the vehicle slammed into a second Haiwa coming from the opposite direction. The impact was so violent that the Scorpio caught fire the moment the two collided, and the flames engulfed the entire vehicle almost instantly.

No Chance to Escape

The fire spread so rapidly that neither the driver nor his companion got even a moment to react or jump out. Both men remained trapped inside the burning Scorpio. Villagers standing nearby stepped forward to help, but the sheer ferocity of the blaze left them helpless and unable to do anything.

Fire Brigade Arrived, But It Was Too Late

As soon as word reached the fire department, a team rushed to the spot and, after a hard struggle, managed to bring the flames under control. By then, however, both occupants of the vehicle had already died. The bodies were in such a badly burnt state that recovering them proved difficult.

Both Victims From Haryana

Police have identified the deceased as Praveen Sharma and Monu Sharma, both residents of Haryana. The Barela police reached the site soon after being informed and took charge of the situation. Using a gas cutter, they sliced through the charred and severely damaged vehicle to pull out the two bodies, which were then sent to the Medical College for post-mortem. The families of the deceased have been notified.

Panic in the Area, Case Registered

The deadly accident triggered chaos across the locality. Additional Superintendent of Police Suryakant Sharma said the police are carrying out a detailed investigation. A case has been registered against the dumper driver, and the causes of the crash are being examined.
