Worms, Hair and Filth in the Food: Indore Girls' Hostel Mess Sealed Just 15 Minutes After Complaint

Between 15 and 20 students fell ill from contaminated food at Madhur Girls Hostel in Indore. Within just 15 minutes of a CM Helpline complaint, the district administration sealed the hostel mess.

For the students living and studying at a private girls' hostel in Indore, the daily meal had become a health hazard rather than nourishment. At Madhur Girls Hostel, between 15 and 20 students fell ill after eating contaminated food, and once their patience ran out they turned directly to the CM Helpline. What stood out was the speed of the response — within just 15 minutes of the complaint being lodged, the district administration's team reached the spot and sealed the hostel mess.

Insects, Hair and Dirt on the Plate

The students alleged that the meals served to them contained insects, hair and visible filth. It was not only the food — they had also complained about a supply of contaminated water for drinking inside the hostel. It was the relentless combination of poor-quality meals and dirty water that finally pushed them to file an official complaint. The students said they had been raising concerns about the filth and bad food for a long time, but their problems were being ignored.

Food Prepared Next to the Drainage Line

Perhaps the most serious allegation was that their food was being prepared close to the drainage line, raising grave questions about the kitchen's hygiene and cleanliness standards. When the administration's team inspected the premises, those fears appeared to be confirmed.

Swift Action on the Collector's Orders

As soon as the complaint came in, the food safety department's team rushed to the hostel on the directions of Collector Shivam Verma and began its investigation. During the inspection, heavy filth was found in the kitchen and the food preparation area, and officials also noted a blatant disregard for established food safety standards. Acting firmly, they sealed the mess entirely.

Flour and Ghee Samples Sent to Bhopal Lab

The team collected samples of flour and ghee from the site and sent them to a laboratory in Bhopal for testing. According to officials, strict action will be taken against the hostel operator as per the rules once the report arrives.

Rapid Response Draws Attention

The administration's promptness has become a talking point in this case. The team reaching the spot and assessing the situation within minutes of the complaint is being seen as a sign of how seriously the authorities are treating the students' health.
