The Indian primary capital market is gearing up for its largest initial public offering to date as Jio Platforms prepares to open its public subscription window. The digital and telecommunications powerhouse backed by Reliance Industries aims to mobilize Rs 30,213 crore through this capital raise. The entire structure consists of a fresh issue of 27 crore equity shares, ensuring that all proceeds will flow directly onto the corporate balance sheet rather than compensating exiting promoters. In response to overwhelming investor interest, brokerage platforms across the country have activated pre-application facilities, allowing prospective bidders to queue their orders ahead of the official launch.
Complete IPO Schedule and Key Milestones
The bidding process will commence with the anchor investor allocation on Monday, October 19. Public bidding for retail participants, institutional investors, and eligible corporate shareholders will open on Wednesday, October 21, and run through Friday, October 23. Following the close of the subscription window, the basis of allotment is slated to be finalized on Monday, October 26.
Unsuccessful applicants will see their blocked capital released, while successful bidders will receive equity credits in their demat accounts on Tuesday, October 27. The shares are tentatively scheduled to debut on both major domestic exchanges, the National Stock Exchange and the Bombay Stock Exchange, on Wednesday, October 28, subject to final regulatory clearings and settlements.
Price Band, Lot Mechanics, and Corporate Valuation
The price corridor for the issue has been established at Rs 1,065 to Rs 1,119 per equity share, carrying a face value of Rs 10 per unit. Bidders must apply for a minimum bundle of 12 shares in a single lot. At the ceiling of the price spectrum, an individual retail participant will need to commit an initial outlay of Rs 13,428 per lot. Eligible corporate employees are entitled to a specialized incentive in the form of a Rs 54 discount per equity share.
Calculated at the upper boundary of the price band, the post-issue market valuation of Jio Platforms will stand at approximately Rs 10.3 lakh crore, placing it among the most valuable corporate enterprises in the nation. The lead investment banking mandate is handled by Kotak Mahindra Capital Company as the book running lead manager, while KFin Technologies will serve as the official registrar managing the allotment and processing operations.
Quota Allocation and Specific Shareholder Carve-Out
The allocation hierarchy reserves 50 percent of the net offer for qualified institutional buyers, while non-institutional high-net-worth participants have been earmarked a 15 percent quota. Individual retail investors have access to 35 percent of the offering.
A standout element of this transaction is the carved-out reservation for existing equity holders of the parent firm, Reliance Industries. Around 12 percent of the aggregate issue size, translating to roughly Rs 2,500 crore, has been ring-fenced for this category. In line with the red herring prospectus filed on October 14, any individual investor or Hindu Undivided Family holding at least one share of Reliance Industries on or before October 14 qualifies for this reserved window. Because the eligibility cutoff concluded on the prospectus filing date, purchasing Reliance shares subsequent to that date does not confer entitlement to this dedicated pool, though standard retail participation remains open.
Strategic Value of a Pure Fresh Capital Issue
Unlike many historic public listings where promoters or venture capital funds offload equity through an offer for sale, this transaction contains zero secondary divestment. Existing stakeholders are retaining their full equity positions without offloading shares into the market. Retaining all 27 crore shares as freshly minted capital ensures that every rupee collected from the Rs 30,213 crore issue will directly enhance liquidity, support extensive digital infrastructure rollouts, and fund next-generation telecommunication technology deployments.
How Pre-Application Works and Submission Steps
Brokerage platforms have rolled out the pre-apply functionality to streamline demand management before the high-traffic opening bell. This mechanism allows market participants to register their bid parameters ahead of October 21. When an applicant utilizes this feature, the broker secures the order details in advance and transmits the request to the stock exchange immediately upon market launch, prompting the creation of a unified payment interface mandate.
Submitting an early order does not instantly freeze banking funds. Capital remains completely liquid until the exchange opens and the UPI mandate is generated and approved by the bidder. Once the user authenticates the mandate inside their banking or payment application, the designated bid amount is placed under a bank lien until the allotment resolution.
To execute an application, investors must navigate to the IPO module within their broker portal, locate the Jio Platforms listing, and select their respective category as regular retail or Reliance shareholder. After inputting the desired number of lots and selecting the cutoff price to maximize allocation chances, bidders submit their UPI identifier. Once the electronic mandate arrives on the payment app, entering the security PIN completes the authorization, holding the exact subscription amount in escrow until final allotment decisions are published.
