One 97 Communications Ltd, the parent enterprise behind digital payments platform Paytm, is scheduled to unveil its financial scorecard for the July to September quarter of FY27 on Monday, October 26, 2026. Market participants and shareholders will closely examine the figures for concrete evidence of sustained transaction momentum, deeper merchant monetisation, and durable gains in corporate profitability.
Revenue Expansion and Strong Profit Projections
Ahead of the official announcement, brokerage house Bank of America released an optimistic operational forecast for the fintech firm. The investment bank anticipates that higher business volumes paired with prudent cost management will enable operating profits to expand at a faster clip than top-line revenue across the three-month period.
Bank of America projects Paytm to deliver Rs 2,641 crore in overall revenue for the second fiscal quarter. Attaining that benchmark would represent a 28 percent advance over the corresponding period of the previous year. On a sequential basis, this marks an 8 percent increase compared to the Rs 2,448 crore generated in the first quarter of FY27 ending June.
The bottom-line outlook points to even steeper growth. The brokerage models a net profit of Rs 271 crore for the quarter, reflecting an impressive 76 percent year-on-year surge. Sequentially, the estimate implies a 23 percent rise over the Rs 220 crore net earnings registered in the April to June quarter.
Operating Earnings and Margin Expansion
Operational profitability metrics are likewise projected to show marked improvement. Bank of America estimates earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) to touch Rs 263 crore for the quarter, which corresponds to an 86 percent increase relative to the prior year.
Under these projections, Paytm's EBITDA margin would reach 10 percent, marking an expansion of 166 basis points compared to the previous quarter. The disciplined containment of fixed overhead expenses is identified as the central factor allowing the business to convert a greater portion of its incremental revenue into operational profit.
Payments Revenue and Merchant Soundbox Footprint
The core payments vertical is anticipated to remain the primary engine of quarterly performance. Bank of America forecasts payments-related revenue to climb 31 percent year-on-year, alongside an 8 percent sequential expansion in gross merchandise value (GMV), the aggregate rupee volume of all transactions processed over the platform.
Physical merchant infrastructure continues to broaden, with the brokerage projecting that Paytm deployed roughly five lakh Soundbox units during the September quarter. These compact electronic units provide shopkeepers and merchants with instant voice notifications upon receiving payments, cementing the company's footprint among neighborhood retail shops.
For Paytm, expanding the deployment of Soundbox devices carries strategic importance well beyond collecting payment processing fees. Cultivating an extensive merchant network establishes an engine for high-margin recurring subscription revenue and reinforces customer retention among enterprise clients. The upcoming earnings release will show whether this expanding physical footprint is driving enhanced cross-selling and monetisation outcomes.
UPI Traction and the Impact of MDR Postponement
Market share gains across the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) network alongside better merchant monetisation have been singled out by Bank of America as meaningful catalysts for financial upside. However, market observers must differentiate between long-term strategic tailwinds and income captured during the reporting period.
A critical consideration involves the proposed merchant discount rate (MDR) regulatory framework. Subsequent developments indicated that the implementation of the updated MDR structure was postponed until after the Diwali festival period. Consequently, any prospective financial lift stemming from the revision is not expected to be reflected in the Q2 FY27 results.
Financial Services Momentum and Loan Distribution
The financial services division is also forecast to post vigorous gains. Bank of America models a 44 percent year-on-year revenue surge for Paytm's financial services wing during the second quarter.
Credit distribution to merchant partners is projected to serve as the dominant contributor to this segment, while personal loans extended to consumers are also displaying upward traction from a comparatively modest baseline.
Paytm facilitates lending exclusively by connecting borrowers with licensed banks and regulated non-banking financial companies, avoiding the requirement of holding credit exposure directly on its own balance sheet. This capital-light distribution architecture protects the firm from direct credit default risks, though overall revenue remains dependent on macroeconomic credit demand, underwriting partner criteria, and systemic asset quality.
Turnaround in Commerce and Cloud Businesses
Modest progress is also anticipated across the company's commerce and cloud services segment. Bank of America models a 7 percent sequential recovery in revenue from these complementary offerings. A consistent rebound in this vertical would diversify total corporate receipts and reduce overall top-line dependency on pure payments and financial services.
