A harrowing incident has come to light in the Pratapgarh district of Uttar Pradesh, where a mother and her young son lost their lives under mysterious circumstances. The tragic event unfolded late Saturday night in Lalpatti Naya Purwa village, located within the jurisdiction of the Sangramgarh police station, sending shockwaves through the entire region. The deceased woman's family has leveled serious allegations against her husband, accusing him of strangling both victims. Police have taken custody of the bodies, sent them for post-mortem examinations, and initiated a formal inquiry into the matter.
Bodies of mother and child found on bed
Suresh Kumar Patel, son of Onkarnath Patel and a resident of Naya Purwa village, was married about ten years ago to Neeta, who was thirty years old and the daughter of Shivchand from Antu Mau in the Manikpur area. On Saturday night, all family members ate dinner together and retired to their respective rooms to sleep. According to available details, a dispute erupted between the couple late in the night over an unspecified issue. It is alleged that in a fit of rage, Suresh strangled his wife Neeta and their two-year-old son Yeshu right on the bed.
Allegations of staging the deaths as suicide
By Sunday morning, when neighbors and local residents caught wind of the tragedy, the accused husband had refrained from informing the authorities. Instead, he allegedly began spreading rumors that the deaths occurred due to hanging. With the clear intent of destroying evidence, he shifted both bodies from the bed and placed them on a cot outside to make the entire sequence of events appear like a suicide.
However, upon receiving word of the incident, the victim's family members rushed to the scene. After observing marks on the bodies, they directly accused the husband of committing strangulation murder. This sensational crime has created panic and deep distress throughout the local community.
Police investigation and official response
Upon being alerted to the crime, Superintendent of Police Deepak Bhuker, the Circle Officer, and Sangramgarh Station House Officer Siddharth Singh arrived at the location promptly with a heavy police deployment. Authorities secured both bodies and dispatched them for autopsies to determine the exact cause of death.
Superintendent of Police Deepak Bhuker stated that the murders were committed by the victim's husband in Naya Ka Purwa Lalu Patti due to domestic discord. The accused, Suresh Patel, has been taken into custody, and legal proceedings are underway. Further stringent legal action will be pursued upon receiving a formal written complaint from the victim's relatives. Officials noted that the definitive cause of death will be established once the post-mortem report is finalized. Similar tragic incidents have occurred in the district previously, such as an instance where a tiny bank operator in Pratapgarh was beaten to death by her husband.
