A major breakthrough has been achieved by the police and SOG team in the Taryasujan police station area of Kushinagar district in Uttar Pradesh. The police successfully apprehended Ashu Yadav, a notorious criminal carrying a cash reward of 50000 rupees, following a dramatic exchange of fire. During the encounter, the accused sustained a gunshot wound to his leg and was promptly rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment where he is currently admitted. This operation highlights active law enforcement efforts in the region.
Background of the Criminal Case
According to police records, the captured offender Ashu Yadav is originally a resident of Bindwalia village under the Kuchaykot police station jurisdiction in the neighboring state of Bihar. A few days prior, while a police team was conducting routine vehicle checks in the Taryasujan area, he had attempted to run a truck over them. This dangerous incident left a police constable seriously injured. A total of four individuals were implicated in this case, out of which three had already been arrested and sent to jail by law enforcement. However, Ashu Yadav had managed to remain on the run, prompting the Gorakhpur DIG to announce a bounty of 50000 rupees for his capture.
Fake Stomach Ache Drama and Weapon Snatching
Following intense efforts, the police had successfully detained Ashu Yadav days earlier. While officers were transporting him to a hospital for a mandatory medical examination, he faked severe stomach pain along the way. The moment police personnel stopped the vehicle and got him down, he seized the opportunity to snatch the sub-inspector's service pistol. He opened fire on the police team and attempted to flee the scene. This brazen act triggered an immediate high-level alert among local law enforcement units.
Encounter Near Jharwa Railway Underpass
Upon receiving immediate alerts, the Tamkuhiraj police station, Taryasujan police station, and SOG team launched a massive search operation across the locality. The police teams cornered the fugitive near the Jharwa railway underpass within the Taryasujan jurisdiction. Finding himself completely surrounded, Ashu opened fire on the police party once again with intent to kill. In self-defense, the police returned fire, resulting in a bullet hitting Ashu in the leg, which brought him down and halted his escape attempt.
Recovery of Arms and Ongoing Interrogation
In the aftermath of the shootout, the police recovered the snatched official pistol, one magazine, eight live cartridges, and one spent shell from the possession of the accused. Superintendent of Police Siddharth Verma stated that the accused is currently being interrogated regarding his associates and broader criminal network to uncover further details about their operations.
