A horrifying incident of domestic violence unfolded in Bukharipur village within Uttar Pradesh's Amroha district, where ongoing household friction culminated in the murder of a young woman inside her residence. The victim, identified as 20-year-old Payal Giri, was preparing a meal in the kitchen when she was fatally struck from behind. The severe cranial trauma proved fatal on the spot, triggering panic across the neighborhood and leaving the household devastated. Responding promptly to the alert, law enforcement teams reached the location and recovered a blood-marked iron pestle believed to be the murder weapon.
Newborn Left Orphaned After Successive Tragedies
The tragedy compounds an already devastating series of events for the grieving family. Just weeks prior, on September 28, Payal's husband, Deepak, had ended his life by consuming poison. Following her husband's sudden demise, Payal continued residing at her marital home in Bukharipur despite relentless interpersonal discord and hostility. Compounding the heartbreak, Payal had delivered a baby girl merely two months ago. Following the dual tragedies occurring within weeks of each other, the infant has been left without both parents.
Police Officers Inspect Scene and Identify Primary Suspect
Local authorities received distress information on Friday morning regarding the suspicious death of a young bride in Bukharipur. A police contingent led by Circle Officer Anjali Kataria immediately arrived at the residence to secure the scene. Detailing the preliminary findings, Additional Superintendent of Police Akhilesh Bhadoria stated that the 68-year-old grandmother-in-law, Kranti Giri, allegedly struck Payal on the head using a heavy iron pestle while the victim was engaged in kitchen chores. The sheer impact of the assault caused instantaneous death before medical aid could be rendered.
Maternal Relatives Level Murder Accusations as Three Detained
The horrific turn of events provoked strong outrage from Payal's maternal family, who raised severe allegations against her marital relatives upon arriving at the village. They alleged that attempts were initially made to hang Payal before she was bludgeoned with a heavy object. Investigating officials performed a meticulous forensic examination of the kitchen, taking the body into custody for post-mortem evaluation. Police have taken three individuals into custody, including the victim's sister-in-law and brother-in-law, to question them about the circumstances leading to the fatal assault, assuring strict punitive action against those found culpable.
