Recent comparative analyses of remote-sensing imagery indicate that water levels across 14 previously identified glacial lakes within the Gyirong Tsangpo river basin have experienced no significant alterations, leaving those specific bodies stable for now.
Drone Survey Findings and River Conditions
Drone imagery captured on Tuesday morning at 5:45 Nepal Standard Time revealed that the majority of the accumulated water inside the impact crater near the Chochen River has successfully drained away. Consequently, water flow downstream has returned to normal conditions. However, the report cautions that the threat of glaciers or massive ice blocks breaking off around the impact crater persists. Such sudden fractures could give rise to severe hazards down the line.
