A severe domestic altercation in the Munger district of Bihar resulted in a violent assault on an elderly resident. The incident took place in Khajuriya village, under the jurisdiction of the Laraiyatanr police station within the Dharhara administrative block. A 75-year-old father suffered grievous injuries after being struck with an axe by his elder son following an argument at their residence.
Addiction and Employment Disputes Behind the Violence
The injured patriarch, 75-year-old Mannu Manjhi, lived in the village alongside his family. According to relatives, his eldest son, Tufani Manjhi, was habituated to consuming cannabis and remained unemployed. His ongoing drug dependence and lack of regular work had become a frequent point of contention within the household over the past months.
On the day of the confrontation, the dispute flared up again when Mannu Manjhi reprimanded his son. The father insisted that Tufani stop using intoxicants and find meaningful employment to support the family. Infuriated by the admonition, Tufani seized a domestic axe kept inside the house and directed a strike straight at his father.
Victim Referred to Higher Medical Facility Following Severe Trauma
The impact of the blade severely severed Mannu Manjhi's left arm, causing massive bleeding and leaving him collapsed on the floor. Hearing the commotion and distress calls, relatives and neighboring villagers rushed to the scene to assist the victim. He was immediately transported to Munger Sadar Hospital for emergency treatment.
Attending physicians at the Sadar Hospital administered immediate emergency first aid. However, assessing the critical trauma to the limb and the fragile health of the octogenarian-bound elder, the medical team determined that specialized intervention was required. Consequently, he was referred onwards to a higher medical facility for comprehensive trauma care and surgical treatment.
Police Investigation Underway to Trace Absconding Suspect
Following the violent attack, the accused suspect Tufani Manjhi fled the village premises to evade arrest. Personnel from the Laraiyatanr police station responded to the situation upon receiving formal notice of the incident. Law enforcement officials have initiated a probe into the domestic assault and are conducting raids across potential hideouts to apprehend the suspect.
