During his college years in Delhi, his interest shifted toward theater, leading him to join the Ruchika Theater Group. The First Break and Subsequent Struggles
The year 1980 marked a major turning point when casting director Dolly Thakur visited the National School of Drama to scout for fresh talent for the film 'Gandhi'. After several auditions, Alok Nath was selected for a role, receiving a fee of approximately 20,000 rupees. This project served as his entry into the film industry, yet the road ahead was anything but smooth. Following 'Gandhi', Alok Nath moved to Mumbai but faced a difficult period of struggle, waiting nearly five years before securing his second film role. During these lean years, he stayed active in theater and eventually landed a small part in the movie 'Mashaal'.
Finding His Iconic Niche
His career gained significant momentum after the release of the 1988 film 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak'. This launched a series of roles where he was cast as the father or a senior family figure.
