Fans eager for the continuation of Ranbir Kapoor's 2023 blockbuster Animal will have to wait considerably longer than expected. A major scheduling update regarding the heavily discussed sequel, Animal Park, has emerged from producer Pranay Reddy Vanga, brother of director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The team intends to prioritize the upcoming Prabhas starrer Spirit before turning their focus to Animal Park. Consequently, principal photography for the sequel is projected to commence around the end of 2027.
Six-Month Break Planned Following Spirit Release
Speaking in a recent media interaction, Pranay Reddy Vanga outlined the production timeline for the anticipated project. He explained that director Sandeep Reddy Vanga will first complete and release Spirit. Once Spirit hits theaters, the filmmaking team will take a planned break of approximately six months. Only after this six-month pause will active production work on Animal Park begin. This aligns with earlier statements by producer Bhushan Kumar, who had similarly mentioned a planned six-month gap between the theatrical release of Spirit and the start of Animal Park's shoot.
Ranbir Kapoor's Jam-Packed Future Lineup
Beyond the director's timeline, actor Ranbir Kapoor's own crowded schedule plays a major role in determining when Animal Park can begin. Kapoor is currently involved in several massive multi-project commitments. He is headlining Nitesh Tiwari's ambitious Ramayana franchise, with reports pointing toward a Diwali 2027 release window for the second installment. Additionally, Kapoor is set to star alongside Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in Love & War. Industry reports also indicate that filming for Brahmastra 2: Dev could potentially take place in 2027, leaving the actor with a tightly packed itinerary over the coming years.
Double Role and Story Continuation
The original Animal, released in 2023, laid explicit groundwork for a follow-up during its closing moments. A dramatic post-credits sequence following the main climax set up a fresh narrative direction that left audiences intrigued. Kapoor had previously noted that Sandeep Reddy Vanga had already conceptualized the sequel's core narrative while shooting the first installment. It has already been revealed that Kapoor will portray a double role in Animal Park, expanding the plot into uncharted territory.
Fan Reactions to the Production Delay
Following news of the delayed schedule, reactions across social media platforms have been varied. Some fans pointed out that Kapoor's commitment to multiple lengthy, high-profile projects makes finding continuous dates difficult. Conversely, other enthusiasts expressed that taking extra time is acceptable if it ensures a refined screenplay and a high-impact cinematic experience. Overall, expectations remain high despite the extended wait.
