Arjun Kapoor's sister Anshula Kapoor is all set to marry her longtime boyfriend Rohan Thakkar. The wedding festivities kicked off in June, and the couple is set to tie the knot on 6 July. Ahead of the big day, Anshula's mehendi ceremony took place last Saturday, and she shared glimpses of the celebration through a social media post.
A blue Gujarati lehenga instead of the usual green
Brides usually opt for a traditional green lehenga for their mehendi function, but Anshula chose to break away from that norm entirely. She picked a Gujarati-style teal blue lehenga instead, a choice that immediately stood out for how different and elegant it looked. In her post, she also explained in detail why she went with this particular outfit.
Arpita Mehta's design draws on Patola craft
The lehenga was designed by Arpita Mehta. In her Instagram post, Anshula wrote that for her mehendi ceremony she wanted an outfit that was not just beautiful but also honoured the rich heritage and culture of the family she was about to become a part of. The look draws inspiration from her fiance Rohan Thakkar's culture, and her search ended with this striking teal blue lehenga by Arpita Mehta.
She further wrote that the outfit is inspired by Gujarat's traditional and historic Patola craft, into which Arpita Mehta's signature mirror work has been woven beautifully. According to her, the ensemble is a remarkable and unique coming together of two of Gujarat's most prestigious handicrafts. Making it even more special and memorable, this is designer Arpita Mehta's first-ever Patola-inspired bridal lehenga.
Janhvi and Khushi kept the mehendi a surprise
Anshula also wrote that her sisters Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor made the day even more special for her. Both sisters had kept the entire mehendi ceremony a surprise. Anshula had no idea what was going to unfold, she only knew that there was some function planned. Janhvi and Khushi went out of their way to make the day memorable for her.
Sonam Kapoor shares a glimpse of the decor
Anshula's cousin Sonam Kapoor also shared glimpses of the special day on social media. The video showed the home decor, adorned beautifully with marigold flowers, along with an idol of Lord Ganesha placed inside the house. The same video also featured Anshula's uncle Sanjay Kapoor and brother Arjun Kapoor, both looking quite dashing in kurtas. Anshula Kapoor's look from the day is being widely appreciated and praised on social media.
