Former film star Asin and her husband Rahul Sharma are once again in the spotlight due to the unique upbringing of their seven-year-old daughter, Arin रेन Sharma. Micromax co-founder Rahul Sharma recently shared fascinating insights into how they are raising their child away from the glitz of the entertainment world. He revealed that his daughter has never been allowed to use a mobile phone or watch television. According to him, this disciplined environment is heavily credited to his wife Asin, who has fostered a rich learning culture at home. Rahul also highlighted his daughter's incredible aptitude for foreign languages, noting how she has developed a deep interest in numerous tongues at a very tender age.
Grasping Twelve Languages at Age Seven
During a conversation with MyGov India, Rahul Sharma shared that young Arin can comprehend and speak around 12 different languages at just seven years old. This impressive list includes prominent Asian languages such as Korean, Japanese, Thai, and Chinese. Expressing amazement at his daughter's linguistic skills, Rahul humorously noted that he himself struggles to converse in anything other than Hindi and English. While he did not specify her exact level of fluency in all these tongues, her early fascination with diverse languages remains a striking aspect of her development. This points to a household environment that constantly encourages children to explore and absorb new concepts beyond standard boundaries.
A Book-Filled Home With Zero Screen Time
While modern parenting often relies on tablets and television to keep children engaged, Rahul and Asin have chosen a completely different path. Their home features a strict ban on screen time, meaning no television and zero mobile device access for Arin. Instead, the household places immense emphasis on reading and literary exploration. Rahul noted that the sheer volume of books stacked in their home likely surpasses the count of textbooks required for Arin's school. Although she is currently studying in the second grade, advanced books meant for the eighth and ninth grades are already readily available to her at home. Rahul jokingly remarked that he sometimes suggests sending her straight to the tenth-grade board exams given the advanced reading material surrounding her. He firmly attributes this intellectually stimulating atmosphere to Asin's dedicated involvement in their child's daily routine.
Rahul Credits Asin as His Greatest Strength
Beyond parenting, Rahul Sharma touched upon his marital journey and the profound bond he shares with Asin. He described marrying Asin as one of the most vital and rewarding decisions of his life. Rahul shared that she has consistently stood by his side during difficult times and continually motivated him to push forward. According to him, Asin's unwavering faith in his abilities serves as his primary source of strength, making various challenges much easier to navigate. His remarks underscore how deeply he values his wife's presence and her pivotal role in shaping their harmonious family life.
Asin's Transition from Cinema to Family Life
Asin built a stellar acting career by establishing herself in South Indian cinema before making a successful transition to Bollywood. She shot to nationwide fame in Hindi cinema with the 2008 blockbuster Ghajini, starring alongside Aamir Khan. Following that breakthrough, she starred in several hit films including Ready, Housefull 2, Bol Bachchan, and Khiladi 786. In January 2016, Asin married Rahul Sharma in an intimate ceremony attended by close family members and friends. The couple welcomed their daughter, Arin रेन Sharma, in October 2017. Following her marriage and the birth of her child, Asin steadily stepped away from the film industry to focus entirely on her personal life and family commitments.
