Suneel Anand, actor, filmmaker, and son of legendary Hindi cinema icon Dev Anand and actress Kalpana Kartik, passed away in London on Tuesday following a heart attack. He was 70 years old. His niece, Gina Narang, shared the sad news through an official statement on behalf of the family. Expressing deep gratitude for the overwhelming love, prayers, and support received from well-wishers, the family requested space to grieve during this painful period. In their official message, the family stated, "We request everyone to respect our privacy during this difficult time."
Early Life and Family Background
Born in Switzerland on June 30, 1956, Suneel Anand came into the world while his parents were attending an international film festival. Despite belonging to one of Indian cinema's most celebrated families, he pursued his higher education in the United States. His father, Dev Anand, was a titan of Hindi cinema who also breathed his last in London at the age of 88 in the year 2011. Suneel Anand is survived by his sister Devina Anand, who chose to lead a quiet life away from the public eye.
Career in Acting, Directing, and Navketan Films
Suneel Anand stepped into Hindi cinema with his debut acting role in the 1984 feature film Anand Aur Anand. He went on to star in movies such as Main Tere Liye and Master. He also turned director with Master, marking his directorial debut. Beyond his creative projects on screen, he played an active role in managing his father's famed banner, Navketan Films. In later years, he expanded his artistic horizons to global cinema, working on the 2014 Hollywood venture Vagator Mixer.
