He had been suffering from health-related ailments for some time before breathing his last. Expressing deep sorrow over his passing, the Movie Artists Association issued a statement highlighting his departure as a major loss for the Telugu film fraternity.
Early Life, Acting Debut, and Nandi Award
Born in Kurumaddali village located in the Krishna district, GV Narayana Rao developed a strong passion for acting from an early age. To hone his artistic skills, he enrolled in the Madras Film Institute, where he underwent formal training in performance arts. He officially launched his acting career in 1976 when legendary director K. Balachander cast him in the acclaimed film Anthuleni Katha. His performance in his debut feature earned him widespread appreciation and the prestigious Nandi Award for Best Supporting Actor.
Following his successful debut, GV Narayana Rao went on to play lead roles in several notable feature films, including Mutyala Pallaki, Oka Oori Katha, Chilakamma Cheppindi, and Urukichina Mata. Over time, he seamlessly transitioned into diverse character roles, displaying remarkable versatility.
