Security concerns have intensified across the Hindi film industry right before the festive season following back-to-back extortion threats directed at prominent actors. Just a day after actor Tusshar Kapoor, son of veteran star Jeetendra, was targeted with demands for crores of rupees, another leading artist received a hostile communication. On November 4, actor Ayushmann Khurrana was sent a threatening audio note seeking an extortion payout running into crores. Law enforcement authorities have initiated a technical verification of the audio clip, though no formal police complaint has been officially registered at this stage.
Shadow of the Juhu Car Firing Incident
The current unease among film personalities stems directly from a violent street incident that took place late last month. On the evening of October 18, 2026, an armed assault targeted Jackie Shroff's son Tiger Shroff in the Juhu area of Mumbai. Multiple rounds of gunfire were unleashed on his vehicle, leaving his driver and another individual injured with bullet wounds. Investigating officers treating the ambush as a priority have made several arrests in connection with the shooting as inquiries proceed.
Police Step Up Vigil for Top Stars and Public Figures
Following that brazen assault, Mumbai Police heightened vigilance across the city to prevent further security breaches. On November 3, law enforcement upgraded the protective cover for a host of local political leaders, high-profile dignitaries, and leading cinema figures. Among the prominent actors whose security arrangements were reinforced are Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Ranveer Singh, reflecting heightened institutional caution across the entertainment hub.
Recent Box Office Outing for the Actor
Prior to this incident, Ayushmann Khurrana was seen on the big screen alongside Sara Ali Khan in the spy comedy film Udta Teer. Directed by Aakash Kaushik, the movie runs for a duration of 2 hours and 17 minutes and was jointly produced by Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment. Over its initial 12 days in theatres, the production gathered approximately 65 crore rupees in worldwide box office collections.
