Fans of Bollywood comedies have a major reason to rejoice as the hit 2007 film Heyy Babyy is officially getting a sequel after 19 years. Producer Sajid Nadiadwala has confirmed the project, bringing back memories of the iconic comedy. Much like the original blockbuster, the upcoming sequel will be filmed in Australia, returning to the picturesque locations where major portions of the first installment were shot.
Filming Returns To Australia
Sajid Nadiadwala recently hosted New South Wales Premier Chris Minns at his office in Mumbai. During this meeting, Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment announced a major agreement to shoot three upcoming films in Australia. Heyy Babyy 2 is a key part of this slate. This collaboration is part of a broader partnership between the production house and Australia, facilitated in cooperation with Sydney-based TEMPLE, ensuring the studio's next three projects head down under.
Nadiadwala Recalls Memories From The Original Shoot
Sajid Nadiadwala expressed great enthusiasm about returning to Australia for production. He highlighted that alongside the stunning landscapes, the country offers an exceptional filmmaking environment. According to him, the local professionals and crew members maintained a supportive and organized approach, making their previous experience memorable. Nadiadwala noted that everyone from the directors to the entire production unit thoroughly enjoyed their time during the first film, making this upcoming three-film return a special milestone.
Premier Chris Minns Welcomes The Partnership
New South Wales Premier Chris Minns praised Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment's decision to shoot in the region, calling it a significant boost for the local screen industry. He noted that a major production powerhouse choosing Australia for its upcoming ventures reflects deep trust in the local sector. Minns also recalled when the team first arrived in New South Wales nearly two decades ago to shoot Heyy Babyy, pointing out that their return to continue the franchise further strengthens long-standing bilateral ties.
Will The Original Star Cast Return?
The 2007 original starred Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Fardeen Khan, and Vidya Balan in lead roles. The storyline revolved around three carefree bachelors whose lives turned upside down after an infant unexpectedly landed on their doorstep. Blending humor, emotions, and relationship dynamics, the movie opened strongly at the box office, receiving a mixed critical response. While the original was directed by Sajid Khan and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, makers have not yet clarified whether the original actors will reprise their roles or if Sajid Khan will return to direct the sequel.
Anticipation Surrounding The Plot And Cast
The original Heyy Babyy drew comparisons to the Malayalam film Thoovalsparsham, the Hollywood comedy Three Men and a Baby, and the French classic Three Men and a Cradle. With the sequel now officially announced, audiences are eager to see whether the new plot will extend the original narrative or introduce an entirely fresh take on the three friends and the baby. While exact release dates, complete cast rosters, and directorial details remain unannounced, the confirmation of production in Australia has significantly spiked excitement among comedy lovers.
