A high-profile clash between a senior political figure and a legendary Punjabi singer in Uttarakhand has taken a fresh turn. State cabinet minister Subodh Uniyal has categorically denied offering any apology over the recent on-stage confrontation, dismissing earlier claims made by the other camp. His latest remarks have reignited a controversy that had seemingly settled following interventions from top state leadership.
Minister Rejects All Apology Claims
Addressing the controversy directly, Subodh Uniyal stated that the question of apologizing simply does not arise. He argued that if Daler Mehndi was feeling unwell, he should have opted out of the event or informed the audience beforehand. The minister emphasized that when a renowned performer is invited to a major public stage, the attendees naturally expect a proper live presentation.
What Happened at Kunjapuri Temple Fair
The friction began on October 18 during the Kunjapuri Devi fair held in Tehri Garhwal. As Daler Mehndi was performing, Subodh Uniyal intervened mid-show, sparking allegations regarding the singer's physical state and the use of lip-syncing during the set. Video clips capturing the awkward moments on stage quickly circulated online, drawing mixed reactions and intense public debate across various social media platforms.
Mika Singh Defended His Brother
Following the uproar, singer Mika Singh stepped forward to defend his elder sibling. Mika's management team asserted that Subodh Uniyal had placed a phone call to apologize to Daler Mehndi, adding that the veteran artist does not consume alcohol and was simply suffering from poor health that evening. These assertions had initially suggested a resolution to the bitter episode.
Chief Minister Intervention and Current Status
According to statements previously shared by Mika Singh, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had also stepped in by contacting the artists directly, offering an apology on behalf of the minister and inviting the brothers to visit the state. Despite these peace-making efforts, Subodh Uniyal's refusal to acknowledge any fault has brought the dispute right back into the headlines, leaving both camps at odds.
