Following the theatrical release of Jailer 2 review (2026), discussions surrounding the film's climactic action sequences and character appearances have taken center stage. Mohanlal's stand-in Joby Kodakara has now stepped forward to clear the air regarding his limited involvement in the project. The controversy began when he shared several photographs on social media on the very day of the release, triggering widespread debate among viewers over whether a body double was utilized during the crucial climax scenes alongside Rajinikanth. Joby has since acknowledged that putting those pictures online was a misstep on his part.
Joby Kodakara Clarifies Extent of His Role in Interview
During an interview, Joby explained that his contribution to the feature was restricted solely to a few minor shots during the concluding airport sequence. He emphasized that his face is never visible anywhere in the movie, and only one or two brief shots featuring him made it to the final cut. He firmly dismissed claims that his facial features were used in the climax, expressing absolute certainty about the limited scope of his appearance on screen.
Details on Hand and Foot Close-Up Shots
According to Joby, the specific frames he shot involved close-ups of shifting gears and pressing the accelerator while driving a vehicle. He completely refuted allegations suggesting that a body double's face was substituted during the climax. He reiterated that only portions of his hands and feet appear during the airport sequence in the climactic portion. The film has received a rating of 3.5 out of 5 stars, with praise directed at the star power, action choreography, and surprise cameos.
Admitting the Mistake and Action Director's Stance
Overjoyed at being part of a Rajinikanth project, Joby had ignored clear instructions from the production manager, who had explicitly warned him against posting any photographs prior to the film's release. Eager to let audiences know about his contribution, he uploaded the pictures once the film hit theaters, only to delete them later when he realized the uproar they caused. Meanwhile, the film has crossed 424 crore rupees worldwide, continuing its strong box office run. Furthermore, action director Chetan Ramshi Disouza has also dismissed the circulating rumors regarding the misuse of body doubles in the climax.
