Actress Kriti Sanon has made a personal revelation linked to her film 'Mimi' that has taken fans by surprise. Kriti revealed that she decided to get her eggs frozen while preparing for the same film. The disclosure comes as Kriti is set to turn 36 later this month, having spent more than 12 years in the film industry.
The decision came right in the middle of her weight gain phase
Kriti Sanon shared that she had to gain weight for her character in 'Mimi'. It was during this same phase that she decided to get her eggs frozen, since the weight gain process was already causing bloating in her body. According to Kriti, this made it easier to handle the separate bloating caused by egg freezing, as both physical changes could be managed together.
First public reveal on the Humans of Bombay podcast
Kriti Sanon spoke about this publicly for the first time on the Humans of Bombay podcast. She said, "I'm saying this for the first time. I got my eggs frozen. Very smartly, I did it during the time I was gaining weight for 'Mimi'. It causes bloating, and I was gaining weight anyway." Her words show that she made a practical call after understanding the changes her body was already going through.
A piece of advice that changed her mind
Kriti also spoke about the advice that pushed her towards this decision. She said, "I spoke to someone who said that if you can do it, it's the best thing for you. It's the best gift you can give yourself. That stayed with me. Then when I was asked to gain weight, I thought this was the right time." In other words, when the film's weight gain schedule arrived, Kriti felt it was the right moment to also get her eggs frozen.
Hormonal injections bring on the bloating
Kriti further explained that freezing her eggs during the 'Mimi' preparation turned out to be highly practical. The egg freezing procedure involves hormonal injections, which can cause temporary bloating in the body. Since she was already gaining weight for the film, she chose to undergo the procedure during the same period so that both kinds of physical changes could be managed together.
What egg freezing actually involves
Egg freezing, or oocyte cryopreservation, is a medical procedure in which a woman's eggs are extracted from her body and frozen for future use. Many women opt for this procedure to preserve their fertility and keep open the option of having biological children later in life.
