A fresh ideological debate has erupted between veteran film actors Naseeruddin Shah and Piyush Mishra following a public demonstration in Mumbai. The political event, organized at Shivaji Park by Cockroach Janata Party or CJP, sought the immediate resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Naseeruddin Shah attended the demonstration in person to offer his backing, alongside other well-known figures from the creative and film sphere. Prompted by Shah's high-profile participation, Piyush Mishra shared a video on social media to directly question his senior colleague's selective public interventions.
Heroism of Smit Machhar and Flydubai Flight 1073
A central pillar of Mishra's message was a recent near-fatal aviation emergency involving Flydubai Flight 1073. According to Mishra, a major catastrophe was narrowly averted thanks to the swift courage displayed by Smit Machhar. Machhar's timely bravery was instrumental in safeguarding the lives of roughly 180 passengers onboard the aircraft during the mid-air scare.
Directing his comments squarely at Shah, Mishra questioned why an individual who routinely shares strong commentary on complex political developments has not acknowledged such heroism. Mishra urged Shah to break his silence, offer public congratulations, and commend Smit Machhar for saving scores of human lives, emphasizing that life-saving bravery deserves unequivocal recognition across society.
Clashes at Lovely Professional University and Sarcastic Remarks
Mishra widened the discussion by raising the unrest witnessed during student protests at Lovely Professional University. He pointed out that tensions escalated significantly on campus, resulting in chaotic scenes and direct confrontations between law enforcement personnel and demonstrating students.
Invoking Shah's past remarks about continually learning acting from younger students, Mishra took a sarcastic jab at the veteran performer. He questioned whether the students clashing on the ground had now become his acting instructors, demanding that Shah show genuine empathy and deliver a meaningful message of solidarity to those university students who were caught in turmoil.
Jharkhand Relief Aid Versus Poetry
Mishra also revisited a contentious past episode concerning humanitarian relief in Jharkhand. He recounted how he had previously approached Shah seeking tangible help for struggling populations in the state. However, instead of delivering essential sustenance, Shah reportedly responded by sending across a poem written by a Pakistani poetess.
Criticizing that reaction, Mishra asserted that underprivileged people facing hardship did not need verses; they urgently required staple foods such as flour, lentils, bread, jaggery, litti, and chokha. He highlighted the stark contrast between sending literary poetry and providing the physical rations that people actually rely on to survive.

The latest flashpoint was triggered directly by the CJP assembly at Shivaji Park demanding the ouster of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
