Commemorating the 47th birthday of pan-India star Prabhas on Friday, 23 October, the creators of his upcoming period action drama Fauji surprised fans with an action-heavy teaser and an official release announcement. The unveiling marked one of several celebratory updates around the actor's bustling pipeline, giving audiences their first extended look at his rugged character along with a confirmed date for its worldwide theatrical arrival.
India's Greatest Rebel Soldier and the Pre-Independence Conflict
Clocking in at 2 minutes and 31 seconds, the teaser presents Prabhas in an exceptionally intense and fiery avatar. The narrative is set against the backdrop of the pre-independence era, tracing the journey of a fearless soldier who rebels against oppressive forces and stops at nothing to protect his motherland. The visual showcase is packed with relentless gunfire, explosive sequences, and high-stakes combat. Within the story, his character is described as India's biggest rebel soldier who has been listed as wanted since 1932, fighting against British colonial rule. Accompanying the visual launch, the producers introduced the project as Declassified File No. 25.
Postponement and the Revised Theatrical Window
The Telugu period drama is scheduled to hit cinemas on 19 March 2027. The venture was initially slated to reach theatres on 3 December 2026 before the team chose to reschedule. Producer Ravi Shankar had previously addressed the delay during the pre-release event for Nani's feature The Paradise, clarifying that the extended window was necessary to do full justice to the ambitious scale and elaborate technical execution demanded by the story.
Cast, Creative Collaborators, and Production Backing
Director Hanu Raghavapudi is helming the project, teaming up with Prabhas and leading lady Imanvi. The ensemble also features veteran actor Anupam Kher alongside a wider supporting cast. Production is spearheaded by Naveen Yerneni, Y. Ravi Shankar, and Bhushan Kumar under the banner of Mythri Movie Makers, with T-Series Films presenting the grand cinematic venture to audiences across regions.
Busy Horizon Across Multiple Franchises
Prabhas was most recently seen on screen in The Raja Saab and continues to command a packed schedule of high-profile cinematic universes. Alongside Fauji, his slate features Sandeep Reddy Vanga's highly anticipated directorial Spirit, Nag Ashwin's sequel to Kalki 2898 AD titled Kalki 2, and the continuation of Prashanth Neel's action franchise with Salaar 2. The dynamic glimpse from Fauji has set a high bar for what promises to be an expansive historical spectacle.
