Actor Rajinikanth has delivered another monumental commercial milestone with Jailer 2, which has accumulated Rs 812 crore in worldwide gross collections through its 19th day in theatres. By crossing this threshold, the action feature has emerged as the highest-grossing Tamil film in history to push past the Rs 800 crore global mark. The achievement also places the film at the number two spot among the top-earning Indian movies of 2026, trailing only Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar: The Revenge.
Nineteenth-Day Domestic Run and Regional Breakdown
On its nineteenth day of theatrical screening across India, Jailer 2 generated a net collection of Rs 3.40 crore. The Tamil market continued to supply the largest share of domestic ticket sales, contributing Rs 2.20 crore to that daily total. In contrast, momentum in the Hindi market has decelerated, bringing in Rs 60 lakh on day 19 as theatrical business begins shifting toward a lower tier.
Across India, cinema chains are currently operating 7995 daily shows for the title across multiple languages, including Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada. Fueled by this extensive national footprint, the film's cumulative gross domestic collection has reached Rs 537 crore, which translates to an overall Indian net figure of Rs 459 crore.
Overseas Box Office and Overall International Totals
International venues have also maintained steady revenue streams for the feature. On day 19, overseas theatrical screenings added Rs 75 lakh to the tally, expanding the film's cumulative international gross to Rs 274.25 crore. When paired with its domestic performance, the grand worldwide total stands at Rs 812 crore.
Upcoming Festival Competition on the Horizon
The coming days will test the long-term theatrical legs of the production as major seasonal competition approaches. The Diwali festive window will bring the release of Ramayana, featuring an ensemble cast led by Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash. With massive anticipation surrounding the upcoming mythological epic, industry tracking anticipates an inevitable shift in theatre distribution and footfalls away from holding titles.
Pricing Strategies and Revenue Potential
Veteran Tamil film distributor and financier Tiruppur Subramaniam shared an evaluation regarding the commercial execution of the project. He pointed out that had the producers maintained more flexible ticket pricing, the production could have captured substantially larger financial gains. In his view, a more adaptive pricing strategy could have propelled the film beyond Rs 1,300 crore in total worldwide receipts.
