Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has officially commenced shooting for his upcoming film Pralay in Mumbai. This project holds significant importance for the actor as it marks his first work commitment after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) lifted its non-cooperation directive against him. Through this project, Ranveer Singh is set to explore an entirely new territory by starring in a zombie apocalypse thriller for the very first time in his career.
The FWICE Ban and Subsequent Relief
The trade body FWICE had issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh in May this year. That stern action followed the actor's abrupt exit from director Farhan Akhtar's upcoming project Don 3. As a result of the directive, over 400,000 technicians, workers, and film industry staff were instructed not to collaborate with the actor on any project, generating widespread headlines across the entertainment sector. However, following discussions, FWICE officially revoked the restriction on June 3, paving the way for Ranveer Singh to begin work on Pralay without further hurdles.
Pralay Storyline, Star Cast, and Direction
Pralay is being crafted as a high-stakes zombie apocalypse thriller. South Indian actress Kalyani Priyadarshan, widely acclaimed for her performance in Loka, plays the female lead opposite Ranveer Singh. The core narrative focuses on the intense human struggle for survival amidst a global catastrophe. The plot unfolds at a juncture when the world stands on the brink of total collapse, presenting continuous life-and-death tests for the characters. This survival angle aims to distinguish the narrative from conventional zombie cinema. To deliver a grounded and authentic visual experience, the filmmakers are shooting on location in real environments rather than relying solely on synthetic sets. The project is being directed by Jai Mehta, who previously earned acclaim for directing acclaimed shows such as Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story and Lootere.
Personal Life Milestones and Industry Updates
Alongside his professional developments, Ranveer Singh's personal life is filled with joyous news. The actor and his wife, actress Deepika Padukone, are currently expecting their second child. The couple publicly announced the pregnancy in April through their social media accounts. To mark the occasion, Ranveer and Deepika shared a photograph of their daughter Dua holding a positive pregnancy test kit. Meanwhile, in related film industry news, Munna Bhai actor Ashwin Mushran has come under scrutiny following allegations of a vehicle collision involving a motorcyclist, where claims emerged regarding debris lodged in the car and an altercation involving the victim's spouse.
