Posting on the social media platform X, he emphasized that students raised their collective voice using peaceful methods, mutual affection, and humor despite facing harsh intimidation.
Pune Convention Dedicated Exclusively to Female Students
In his message, Rahul Gandhi expressed deep pride in young protestors across the country, making special reference to female students who endured verbal abuse, harassment, and physical intimidation from political goons. He highlighted that these young women were even forced into a situation where they had to tender an apology to the Prime Minister. Asserting that such coercive measures would no longer work, he stated that their voices could not be silenced. He announced that the August 22 edition of the 'Chhatron Ki Goonj' movement in Pune will be conducted exclusively for female students, declaring that women will speak out and the nation will listen.
Anti-NEET Protestors Detail Alleged Law Enforcement Highhandedness
Accompanying his statement, Rahul Gandhi shared a detailed video interaction featuring 5 young men and women who participated in demonstrations against the NEET paper leak. During the discussion, female participants recounted their experiences with law enforcement during the agitation. One student shared that officers on duty degraded the demonstrators by labeling them anti-national. The female participants further revealed that following their participation in the public demonstrations, they faced relentless harassment, abuse, and threatening messages across various social media platforms.
Serious Allegations Regarding Masked Personnel and Planted Evidence
During the interactive session, a male student alleged that officials present at the protest site acted with clear bias in favor of the ruling political party. He argued that without political backing, administrative authorities would not have taken such extreme measures against peaceful students. The student further claimed that trucks loaded with stones were deliberately brought to the site two days prior to the event to frame the demonstrators. Detailing the physical aggression, he stated that the officer who struck him lacked any nameplate on his uniform. He added that several personnel from the Delhi Police hid their identities by removing nameplates, covering their faces with handkerchiefs, and allowing individuals in plainclothes to assault protestors.
Standing Up Against Injustice Defined as True Citizenship
Reflecting on the experiences shared by the students, Rahul Gandhi discussed his concept of nationhood and active citizenship. He observed that while many people choose to remain silent and mind their own business when witnessing violence, intimidation, or injustice, standing up to confront wrongdoings represents genuine civic duty. Addressing the issue of official forgiveness, Rahul Gandhi categorized PM Narendra Modi's act of pardoning the students as mere drama. He pointed out that three female students were systematically pressured into tendering an apology, after which the Prime Minister publicly accepted it to create a political narrative.
