Renowned rapper and singer Honey Singh has recorded his official statement before the Maharashtra Cyber Police and formally apologized for utilizing objectionable language during a live concert. A senior official from the Maharashtra Cyber Cell confirmed that during the interrogation, the singer openly admitted to his mistake. According to police sources, he expressed regret and assured authorities that such an incident would not happen again. He specifically promised that he would refrain from using any objectionable content during his upcoming stage concerts. Explaining his stance, the singer stated that his intention was never to hurt anyone's sentiments through his performance.
Explaining Prior Absence and Professional Commitments
During the questioning, Honey Singh mentioned that he had previously apologized for his remarks as well, emphasizing that he never meant to cause offense. An official revealed that the singer also provided an explanation for failing to appear before investigators in response to the first three summonses issued to him. He clarified that prior professional commitments and pre-scheduled work engagements prevented him from presenting himself before the authorities on those earlier dates.
Reasons Behind the Maharashtra Cyber Police Probe
The Maharashtra Cyber Police had summoned Honey Singh for questioning following a formal complaint alleging objectionable remarks during a live concert performance. The complainant asserted that certain statements made by the artist during the show were inappropriate, prompting them to approach the authorities. Maharashtra Cyber has been examining the complaint and gathering evidence related to the incident, which includes relevant audio-visual recordings and statements. With the singer admitting his fault regarding the objectionable remarks, the allegations against him were substantiated, leading to his apology to the cyber department.
Past Controversies and Legal Disputes
Prior to this incident, Honey Singh has found himself entangled in other notable controversies. Back in May, the Delhi High Court instructed the singer to file a formal affidavit. This directive stemmed from a petition filed by an organization called 'Hindu Shakti Dal', which alleged that the performer had sung an objectionable song during a live performance at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in 2025. Following the escalation of the dispute, the Delhi High Court issued an order on April 2 directing the central government to remove the song 'Volume 1' by Honey Singh from all digital platforms.
