Telugu star Virat Karrna's mythological action adventure Nagabandham: The Secret Treasure has opened to a decent start at the Indian box office. The film registered a net collection of Rs 3.25 crore in India on its opening day. The day's business came from 3,202 shows held across the country, with overall occupancy standing at 22 percent. Directed by Abhishek Nama, the film draws on Indian mythology and history, and features Virat Karrna in the lead alongside Nabha Natesh and Aishwarya Menon in key roles.
How the collections broke down by language
Nagabandham: The Secret Treasure has earned a gross collection of Rs 3.74 crore in India, while its net collection currently stands at Rs 3.25 crore. The Telugu version brought in the bulk of the business, earning Rs 2.90 crore on its own. The Hindi version followed with Rs 20 lakh, while the Tamil version added Rs 10 lakh. The Malayalam version contributed Rs 3 lakh and the Kannada version added Rs 2 lakh. The numbers make clear that the film's real strength lies in the Telugu market.
Occupancy climbed sharply once night shows began
Among all language versions released, the Telugu print recorded the strongest occupancy. Its overall occupancy on Friday stood at 24.87 percent. Morning shows started slow at just 19.46 percent occupancy, before climbing to 24.15 percent in the afternoon. Evening shows held roughly steady at 23.92 percent, but night shows saw a genuine surge, jumping to 31.92 percent, the highest attendance recorded that day. Among the other languages, the Hindi version's overall occupancy came in at 12.53 percent, the Kannada version recorded 17.38 percent, and the Tamil version drew 10.90 percent occupancy. The Malayalam version trailed the field, holding occupancy at around 4.30 percent through the day.
A story built around a mythical hidden treasure
Nagabandham: The Secret Treasure blends mythology, action and fantasy into a story built around ancient legends and hidden treasures. The plot centres on the search for the mysterious Brahma Kamalam. Virat Karrna plays the character of Rudra, who comes up against a character named Abdali in the story. Abdali is played by Rishab Sahni, and his character is on a relentless hunt to obtain the sacred flower in order to fulfil his own desire.
