Fish farmers in Bihar's Jahanabad district have a fresh opportunity to sharpen their skills at no cost. Under the state's fish farming training scheme, the fisheries department will run a six day free training programme for farmers keen on aquaculture in the district. Different districts across the state have been assigned different training dates, and letters informing them of the schedule have already been sent out. In Jahanabad, the training will be held on two separate occasions, with a combined total of 60 farmers allowed to take part.
Two batches, registration required first
Two training batches have been planned for Jahanabad. The first batch runs from 27 July to 01 August and will accommodate 30 fish farmers. The second batch is scheduled from 26 October to 31 October, again with room for only 30 interested farmers. Anyone wanting to join must first complete registration before they can be enrolled in the programme. Both six day batches will be conducted at the Deep Narayan Singh Sahakari Prabandhan Sansthan located in the Shastrinagar area of the state capital, Patna, and the entire training will be completely free of cost.
How to apply online
Farmers who want to join the training must apply online through the fisheries department's official website. Once the application is submitted, the department will get in touch with interested farmers ahead of time and arrange for them to attend the training. Selected farmers will be taken from the district fisheries office to the training venue on the fixed date. Anyone who runs into trouble applying online can visit the departmental office directly and get help there, and applications can also be filled out from the office itself, meaning farmers without easy online access will not be left out of the scheme.
Why fish farming is catching on in Jahanabad
Interest in fish farming has been steadily rising in Jahanabad district over recent times. People from every section of society are now taking up the business, and more newcomers keep coming forward to try their hand at it. That is one reason the fisheries department has once again rolled out this training opportunity, so that people can learn the trade properly before starting out. According to those familiar with the sector, farmers who start fish farming without any training often end up facing losses because of a lack of proper understanding, and the business itself can run into a financial setback as a result. This free training is therefore seen as a good chance for Jahanabad's fish farmers to pick up both technical knowledge and practical experience before investing their money.
