Palamu Farmer Develops Four-Acre Commercial Farming Model With Teak And Mosambi

Satish Dubey, a farmer from Basna village in Palamu, has developed an integrated commercial farming model across four acres featuring teak boundary trees and a mosambi orchard for high long-term profits.

Stepping away from traditional farming methods, farmers are increasingly transforming their land into lucrative commercial ventures. Satish Dubey, a resident of Basna village in the Palamu district, is currently developing his four-acre farmland into a comprehensive commercial agriculture model. His land combines teak timber cultivation, fruit orchards, and vegetable farming in an integrated approach designed to generate multiple streams of income.

Teak Trees Along The Boundary And Mosambi Orchards Inside

To secure the land and build a strong financial future, Satish Dubey has planted teak saplings in two rows all along the perimeter of his four-acre plot, maintaining a distance of about 10 feet between each plant. Notably, these teak plants have been developed using advanced tissue culture technology and were brought directly from a tissue culture nursery in Nagpur. This teak plantation serves as a long-term investment; the trees are expected to fully mature in about 15 to 20 years, after which they are anticipated to fetch excellent prices in the commercial timber market.

Selecting The Natal Variety Of Mosambi Based On Expert Advice

Inside the perimeter of the field, approximately 800 mosambi (sweet lime) plants have been successfully cultivated. After consulting with agricultural scientists and evaluating local conditions, Dubey found that the climate and soil of Palamu are highly suitable for mosambi cultivation. He specifically chose the Natal variety of mosambi, which is considered a superior strain for orchard farming. Building on this momentum, he also harbors future plans to expand into a lemon orchard once the mosambi project is fully established.

Investment, Yield Projections, And Future Business Goals

Setting up this entire four-acre agricultural model has required an investment of approximately three to four lakh rupees so far. Additional annual expenditures will go toward ongoing maintenance, plant care, and field upkeep. Dubey estimates that once full production begins, a single acre of mosambi can yield a profit of up to three lakh rupees. Consequently, harvesting mosambi across the four acres is projected to generate a business turnover of 12 to 15 lakh rupees. On top of this, additional revenues will flow in from the boundary teak trees, lemons, and vegetable crops.

Dubey notes that his passion for plants and greenery dates back to his childhood. By blending this lifelong passion with modern commercial agriculture, he aims to build a sustainable model where a single piece of land yields revenue from diverse sources, eventually expanding into a large-scale agricultural enterprise.
